Last night, something magical happened in Zamboanga del Sur. Under the stars and the glow of stage lights, our province’s creative community came together for Handuraw 2024—a night dedicated not just to art, but to the dreamers who make it.
As Chairperson of the Zamboanga del Sur Creative Industry Development Council, I had the privilege of standing before our province’s finest creatives—designers, dancers, musicians, visual artists, storytellers. And in that room, I saw more than talent. I saw possibility.
Handuraw, which means “to imagine” or “to reminisce,” was the perfect theme for a night dedicated to those who turn ideas into impact. We celebrated how far we’ve come, but more importantly, we planted a flag for where we are going.
I believe in the immense potential of our creatives. And I know that together, we can transform Zamboanga del Sur into a beacon of creativity and progress.
This night was not just a gathering. It was a call to action. Let this day mark the beginning of a stronger creative economy that uplifts not just our industry, but the entire province. From the stage to the studio, from the canvas to the screen—every creative has a role in shaping our future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, who shared their work, and who dared to dream out loud. I look forward to working with all of you as we turn this vision into reality.
Daghang salamat, ug mabuhay ang Zamboanga del Sur!
