It’s one thing to talk about the creative economy. It’s another to help shape the data and systems that will measure it.
I’m grateful to have been part of the Focus Group Discussion on Creative Economy for the Mindanao Cluster, held at Habi Hotel in Koronadal City. This gathering was a key activity under the Creative Industries Satellite Account Project—and being in that room felt like being part of history in the making.
A heartfelt thank you to the Philippine Statistics Authority and DTI Philippines for spearheading this initiative and bringing together key stakeholders from across the creative sector. Special appreciation goes to the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance - GRIT Labs for expertly facilitating the discussion and sharing their invaluable expertise. And huge appreciation to our host, PSA Region XII Soccsksargen, for an amazing job in making everything seamless.
This FGD marked an essential step in understanding the value chain of the creative industries—from production to distribution, from local artisans to digital creators. Without solid data, we cannot craft sound policy. Without collaboration, we cannot grow.
I’m proud to witness the collaborative efforts driving the growth and development of this vital sector. Here’s to a more robust and thriving creative economy for Mindanao and the Philippines.
Onward, together.
