There’s a unique kind of magic when you bring your advocacy to the place where your own story began.
Recently, our creative caravan rolled into my hometown—Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur. I’ve spoken on stages across the province, facilitated workshops in bustling cities, and joined high-level discussions in conference rooms. But nothing—absolutely nothing—felt quite like standing in my own backyard, talking about creativity with my own people.
It was a different feel. Deeper. Warmer. More personal.
The day started with creative talks—lively, insightful, and filled with honest questions from local artists, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs. We talked about turning passion into livelihood, about the power of storytelling, and about how even the smallest barrio can produce world-class talent.
But the moment that truly made my heart swell came right after.
We unveiled a mobile exhibit at the municipal lobby—a traveling gallery showcasing the works of Zamboanga del Sur's creatives. Seeing neighbors, old classmates, and local officials walk through that space, stopping to admire pieces born from our very own soil… that was something I will never forget.
This wasn't just an event. It was a homecoming of purpose.
Mahayag, you reminded me why I do this work. Thank you for welcoming the caravan with open arms and open minds.
Here’s to more creative journeys—starting from where we call home.
